At this time we understand that you’re going through a pretty hard time, what this section aims to do is explain what happens at the Centre, who the staff are and what happens when you come to the centre for a contact session.

At West Lancs Child Contact Centre sessions last for two hours and there are usually ten of these sessions. Before contact starts with the non-resident family member you will be invited to West Lancs Child Contact Centre for a ‘pre contact interview’ with a member of West Lancs Child Contact Centre staff. This will be a chance for you to have a look around the Centre, meet the staff and ask any questions. We then look to start the contacts as soon as possible after that meeting.

When you come for a contact you are asked to arrive 15 minutes after the non-resident family member has arrived. A member of staff will then take you to the playroom where the non-resident family member will be waiting for you. At the Centre there are two main playrooms, two bathrooms, chill out room and a kitchen.

During the two hours you are able to use any room in the Centre and play with any of the toys provided at the Centre or cook meals in the kitchen.

Feel free to bring anything you want to the Centre, for example homework, games consoles, board games etc. We do ask that fifteen minutes before the contact is due to finish, if you could please tidy away any of the Centre’s toys.

If you ever felt like not attending a session we would never force you, but we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can re-arrange another one.

The staff at the Centre are friendly and approachable. If you ever have a problem or just a question the staff will be more than willing to help you.  During the contact usually a member of staff will be sat with you and the non-resident parent jotting down some notes. Staff will intervene at least as possible but if you want to chat or need anything please don't hesitate to ask.
